Job Opportunity: Historic Properties Operations Manager, Sussex Archaeological Society

Location: Bull House, Fishbourne Roman Palace and Michelham Priory

Pay: Dependent on experience - £ circa 32k

Resposible to: The CEO for direct line management reporting and the Property managers at Fishbourne Roman Palace, Michelham Priory and Marlipins Museum and the Priest House for on-site operational management

Responsible To:
Devolved responsibility for operational and maintenance staff across the organisation

Main purchose of the job:

  • To help provide day to day management support for the major physical operational processes undertaken across the Sussex Archaeological Society under the direction of the Property Managers
  • To develop and implement a set of comprehensive operational and maintenance plans for the Society’s historic properties and archaeological sites.
  • To train and upskill existing operational and property staff.

This post has been generously funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund under the Resilient Heritage Programme We are looking for a dynamic, operations professional to help us with our historic properties operations and services.

The post is offered for 18 months, starting in July/August 2018. The post is Full –Time (A flexible working pattern will be considered). The salary for the post is circa £32,000, plus 30 days AL (incl. BH) + Benefits. The post reports directly to the Chief Executive of the Society and sits within the senior management team.

The post holder will work alongside our Property Managers and operational staff. This is a newly created role to help provide day to day management and project support for the major physical operational processes undertaken across the Sussex Archaeological Society. Among other duties, the post holder will be expected to develop and implement a set of comprehensive operational and maintenance plans for the Society’s historic properties and archaeological sites and to train and upskill existing operational and property staff. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious team player to join a unique and friendly organisation. We are particularly interested in candidates with listed heritage building experience.
